Assessment Specification and CRA Pitch 1
Posted on: Wednesday, 20 March 2013
Hello Everyone
The Artifact Design Assignment specification has been released on Blackboard, along with the Criteria Reference Assessment (CRA) which is used to mark presentation 1.
The artifact which you are designing is a mobile application that addresses a user need and has some novelty. You have been asked to 'mash-up' two mobile application types to increase the novelty of your solution. This presentation is inthe Week 5 workshop times and is worth 10% of the semester's marks.
You will have 8 minutes to present and 5 minutes of obtaining feedback from your audience - your workshop peers.
You are essentially extending your previous presentation completed in week 3, but this time, marks are given. You are refining your ideas based on your peer feedback from last week. The presentation is to cover much the same material, but increase your passion and enthusiasm for this project and be clearer about the different types of users who will be interested in using your app.
Each team will have 2 turns at presenting to different members of the workshop. Identify which pair of students will present first and which pair of students will present second. If there is a team of 5, then there will be one pair and one triple of students presenting. The concept of presentation and flow of presentations is detailed in the assignment specifications.
The key purpose of this presentation is to extend your practice of pitching and to gain valuable feedback on the quality of your idea and possible ways of improving your concept. You learning facilitator will mark, and your peers will also be completing the CRA on your presentation content and style. Your peer feedback is essential to improve your concept plan, and your learning facilitator will collect the CRA, collate them and hand them back to you at the commencement of the workshop in week 6. You must, however, have someone in the team to take notes of the peer feedback as it is delivered and your team must meet in week 6 to determine which suggestions you will take forward in the next prototype and also what new things you will incorporate based on this and other feedback. You must provide a 1 page written back brief to your learning facilitator on the teams actions from this feedback and you will hand this in during the week 6 workshops.
Read these specifications carefully.
I will be in S408 between 11-12 Thursday 21 March to answer any questions you may have on these elements. Richard will be in P504 Thursday between 2-4. I will then be in P504 between 4-5 on Thursday.
This is the week of extension and rehearsal. Use the workshop times to continue meeting and rehearsing your material.
We all look forward to your pitch next week!
Remember, this Friday we have the Industry Conference between 9-1.
See you Friday.
Regards
